The district has two schools:
Apple Springs High School (grades 7 to 12)
Apple Springs Elementary School (pre-kindergarten to grade 6)
In 2002, Apple Springs High School was recognized by Texas Monthly as one of the top ten high schools in Texas in its economic group, based on ranking by the National Center for Educational Accountability.
In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]
The school has a unique relationship with the nearby Hudson Independent School District. Apple Springs participates in six-man football but does not offer a band program, while Hudson has a band but does not participate in football. Therefore, the Hudson band participates at Apple Springs games. The unusual relationship was filmed by the crew of the popular Texas Country Reporter. The television show aired on November 16, 2008. Additional sports offered include volleyball, cross country, basketball, track, and baseball.
